Grundarfjörður is a small and very picturesque fishing village in the north west of Iceland.
Located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula this small town is an ideal place to stop and hunt the Northern Lights.
The most famous attraction nearby is the mountain Kirkjufell which is instantly recognisable and one of the most beautiful mountains in Iceland. The photo above shows Kirkjufell with the aurora borealis dancing above.
Other attractions include the Snæfellsjökull glacier which is only 20 minutes drive.
