Aurora Travel Guide began as a dining room for Emden — thoughtful coastal cooking, generous time at the table — and grew into a house that also hosts recreational offline poker tournaments without financial stakes.
Who we are
We are based at Am Seemannsheim 6, 26723 Emden, Deutschland. The company runs Aurora Travel Guide as a restaurant hospitality project: coastal cuisine first, then structured offline poker tournament evenings that stay recreational and clearly non-gambling.
Our guests include locals after work, travelers along the North Sea coast, couples on a quiet date, and teams booking a supper with an optional tournament block. Many first visits start with lunch; many return nights begin with a reserved tournament seat.
The name Aurora Travel Guide reflects how we think about hospitality: food as a short journey, Emden as the home port, and the table — dining or tournament — as the place where the day slows down.
Emden already has working docks, wind, and a practical relationship with the sea. We wanted a room that respects that character instead of importing a generic city-lounge look. Early menus were short on purpose: a few fish preparations, a vegetable main, bread from a nearby bakery, and desserts that could change with fruit deliveries.
As regulars returned, we added tasting nights and offline poker tournament evenings for guests who wanted structured play without money on the line. Both additions stay secondary to cooking. If the kitchen is at capacity, we postpone a private tournament rather than stretch the team thin.
Today the house still prefers quality over volume. We would rather turn a booking down politely than pack the room past the point where service stays personal.
We prioritize fish, herbs, dairy, and produce that make sense in this climate. Travel influences seasoning and structure, not empty novelty. When a product is out of season, we replace the dish instead of forcing a pale imitation.
Offline poker nights use Texas Hold’em tournament structure with chips that never convert to cash. No financial bets, no cash prizes. Guests come for food first; the game never overrides comfort.
Service should feel attentive and calm. We explain dishes when asked, pace courses with the table, and leave space for conversation. Staff are encouraged to say “I will check” rather than invent an answer.
Allergies, large groups, and last-minute changes all have real kitchen limits. We communicate early, suggest alternatives, and keep confirmation messages clear so expectations match the night you receive.
The team
Our cooks work from a short, changing list so quality stays high. Floor staff know the wine list, zero-proof options, and quieter corners. Tournament hosts brief Texas Hold’em basics, seat tables by experience, and enforce the no-stakes rule before the first hand.
Nobody is pushed into a tournament; dining guests can sit nearby without joining. We do not chase casino spectacle. We chase return visits from people who remember the supper and the night’s pace.

We serve alcohol with care, offer non-alcoholic pairings, and keep poker recreational. Tournament guests should be 18 or older. Confirmation emails restate that there are no financial bets and no cash prizes. If a booking does not fit house rules, we say so early.
